Most of us who have partied or party know a Jimmy Tupper. He's the guy
who is always passing out, making an ass out of himself, throwing up in
the corner whether it's a big bash or a private six people get together.
Well, Jimmy is about to learn his lesson. His buddies are tired of his
"problem" and one night of pass out debauchery, they cart him
off to the woods and leave him in the middle of nowhere. The next day,
his friends show up at Jimmy's work to have a laugh at him, but he's a
no show. Feeling a bit guilty and worried, they head out to where they
left him. He's nowhere in sight, but after some yelling and searching,
they find him all scraped up and seriously freaked out. It seems some
sort of half man/half goat dragged him off in the wee hours of the morning.
Like any good friend, they get a big laugh out of him and seriously piss
him off. At least enough for Jimmy to sober up, grab his buddy's video
camera and spend the next several nights in the woods trying to prove
what he saw. At a mere 70 minutes, it does take awhile before anything
truly happens, but is worth the wait. For those who found BLAIR WITCH
boring or hated the amateur style camera work, this isn't for you. But
if BWP worked for you, you just may be in for a special treat. What makes
this truly work is the actors, characterization and atmosphere set up
by the amateur camera and lack of editing. It all works so well, it was
easy to get wrapped up in Jimmy Tupper's plight. He even becomes likable
as you start to root for this loser. Then the final 10 minutes hit, the
whole payoff and it works for some seriously messed up and genuine chills
that leaves everything open for a must see sequel. I know I'll be there.
JIMMY TUPPER VS THE GOATMAN OF BOWIE may have a strange almost goofy title,
but it comes highly recommended. - Mark Engle
